4G Mobile Phone Networks

4G mobile phones are the phones of the future. The major cellular phone carriers in the US all run on 3G networks currently. They are gradually making the switch, however, to 4G technology.

4G technology speeds up the process of data transfer between the person sending data and the person receiving it. Some data takes little speed to deliver. Someone who only uses their mobile phone to make phone calls would probably not notice any difference in a higher speed network. Conversely, a person who spends a great percentage of their phone time accessing the Internet, sending and receiving documents, or delivering multimedia messages would be very interested in 4G phones.

As smart phones perform more functions, they require more bandwidth. As people switch from carrying a laptop to only carrying their smartphone, they expect more from the device. In particular, if someone is paying money to access the Internet and connect to a high-speed network, they will quickly lose patience with messages that are not delivered or a phone that freezes up while trying to perform an advertised function.

In many cases, the capabilities of mobile phones have expanded quicker than the supporting network. While phones offer the ability to browse the internet, shop and send videos, in reality, the huge number of people using the network can slow the process down. 4G technology should eliminate the problem. As national carriers race to offer 4G technology to their customers, the speed of the network may finally be catching up with the speed of technology.
