Does One Need Hosted Exchange to Synchronize Business E-Mail With BlackBerry? By Adrian Gates

Mobile phone business users of Research In Motion's Blackberry smart phones are interested in knowing if and how their business e-mail can be synchronized with their handsets. First of all, it is not necessary to use Exchange Hosted to push business email to Blackberry handsets. However, a hosted Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) is required to connect the company's mail server with the Blackberry handset.

Due to the domination of Microsoft Exchange in the business e-mail market, it is quite likely that a business may already be using a Microsoft Exchange server as its mail server, and if not, the business can purchase Hosted Exchange plans easily from hosting service providers. Fortunately, some hosted 2007 exchange server providers also host Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES), and both servers together allow for a full range of features to the business users who may be using Blackberry smart phones, Microsoft's Windows Mobile devices, Palm, Nokia, Motorola, Samsung and Apple i Phones.

Today, e-mail is generally the first line of communication between employees and customers, therefore it is a critical communication tool for the successful growth of a business. Permanent up-time and instant mobile access to e-mail is an absolute must in today's business user.

The Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) and Hosted Exchange ensure that Microsoft Outlook or other client mail software stays synchronized with Blackberry client. All additions and deletions which are made by one mail client are made in real time and they immediately reflect in the others. This means that your important communications follow you regardless of where you are. Hosted Exchange and ActiveSync enable a similar capability on Windows Mobile phones and Apple's i Phone.

Blackberry and Blackberry Enterprise Server are the trademarks of Research In Motion.

Adrian Gates (Adrian@apps4rent.com) is a Business Manager with Apps4Rent ;which offers premium hosted Exchange, Microsoft Hosted SharePoint Services and Microsoft Exchange Hosted Services.

Blackberry Or an iPhone? - A Narrative of a Crackberry Addict

Ever since Apple unveiled the iPhone 3 years ago, the mobile device industry has been taken by a storm. The iPhone had enhanced features that outclassed all existing devices in the market. One of the leading mobile device makers at that time, Research in Motion (RIM) boasted an extremely loyal customer base for it's Blackberry phone. So loyal were these users, that it used to be said that once a person starts using a blackberry, he/she just could not go back to using a normal phone.

Soon after the launch of the iPhone, a new breed of mobile phone enthusiasts emerged that were almost as loyal as the Blackberry fans. However, there was a huge difference between these two types of people. The Blackberry users were corporate users (often labeled as 'Suits') while the iPhone fans were more hip and part of the cool crowd that wanted to be different than everybody else.

Fast forward that a few years to today and you will see that the divide continues. iPhone has amassed millions of new users, but not at the expense of the Blackberry. RIM has tried to come up with more user friendly devices that focused on the user interface as well as business related functions. However, even today, it is commonly accepted that Blackberry users stay as loyal to RIM as before.

I started using a blackberry 4 years ago. Initially it was just a fad, a status symbol of some sort that I wanted to be associated with. But within weeks of getting one, I realized how connected my life had become with the Blackberry. The hours (if any) I spent without my blackberry seemed somewhat incomplete because I felt some part of me was missing. Signs of withdrawn, a normal 'crackberry addict' goes through when his Blackberry is removed from him.

Last week, a very close friend of mine started using the Blackberry Bold phone. And now when I see him, he is always tethered to his phone. His eyes squinting at the tiny screen, trying to read the latest email notification or a Facebook poke. It reminds me of how I got hooked in the similar manner a couple of years ago. It is just amazing how people get attached to their phones, the same way over and over again.

Now I am sure iPhone fans have similar stories, but I doubt you can convince one or the other. It's just like trying to convince an atheist that there is god. Personally, the only thing I feel lacking in the Blackberry is it's really tiny app store. My mouth waters at all the new shiny apps I see in the iPhone App Store. Which I hope get ported to the Blackberry soon. But until then, I guess we 'crackberry addicts' will have to do with the measly blackberry app world that we have.

BlackBerry Credit Card App For Mobile Salesman

Are you a mobile salesperson looking for information about in-field credit card processing? This short article should certainly pique your interest. In this piece I'll introduce you to one such application for BlackBerrys that can help you sell more, faster.

There's a common trouble that affects many kinds of businesses. Perhaps you're familiar with it?

Salespeople and similar individuals like in-field service reps, often could use an easy method that assists in the processing of credit payments when clients don't have cash available to purchase your product or service.

This was once a major issue for service-providers that depend on these kinds of on-the-spot transactions. With the development of wireless swipe credit-card readers this puzzle was somewhat solved, but such types of credit-card processing are awkward and hard to use effectively.

Now, quite a few businesses operate with BlackBerry mobile devices for the in-field reps to make sure they are efficient in time management and maintain continued contact with clients, other sales reps, and of course their sales supervisors.

Just recently, with the deployment of a multitude of BlackBerrys in these businesses, an opportunity to fix the credit card transaction problem has been developed. An App that introduces a new way to accept credit card payments has been just recently released. This app is a win for mobile salesmen and their customers.

This software presents in-field representatives with a way to get card payments from clients outside the home office - without lugging around wireless card-swipe terminals. Talk about convenient!

There's no equipment to lease, and you only have to install a small application. That's it. You're all set.

If your business sometimes gets customers outside of a traditional storefront, you now have the opportunity to make additional sales you might have otherwise lost.

If you are making an appearance at, for example a local event, or you just sell a product that does not require running a physical shop, you can now insure your customers are given the same simple credit payment options wherever they are.

You may additionally see sales transactions increase because of the additional means to receive payment. This dynamic payment method can clearly demonstrate that you're faster than your competition - and more credible too. This App will help increase revenues, all while being shockingly easy to implement.

Of course, if the business doesn't already have in-field sales reps, they could now take advantage of technology that could improve how business is done.

This App for BlackBerry devices is a low-cost alternative, particularly when compared with other card transaction applications for mobile phones. And it's definitely more convenient and lower-cost acquiring than wireless card-readers.

If security is a big concern for you, rest easy. The application has top-of-the-line security that produces advanced SSL encryption. It additionally presents users with the ability of address verification (AVS) support, with zip code, street, and CVV fraud detection. Featuring a simple single-screen entry page. You can get this BlackBerry Credit Card Processing App for "FREE" with a 100% refund/rebate when you sign up with Authorize.net or PayPal Payflow Pro.

The application also interfaces with all major merchant services, such as Authorize.net, Paypal Pay Flow Pro, ChronoPay, SagePay and PayPoint. This App also includes support for all major credit cards. This BlackBerry Credit Card App is the ideal utility to use from any location via cell phones without buying costly credit card processing terminals.

Try BlackBerry Credit Card App for Tour 9630, Storm 95XX, Bold 9000 & Curve 8350, 8500 & 8900. Supports Authorize.Net & PayPal Payflow Pro. Dr. Knox Grandison is an Entrepreneur-Physician and has been for over 10 years.

Its Quick, Cheap and Easy to Replace Your Blackberry Trackball and Repair Your Smart Phone

Replacing the Blackberry trackball can be done yourself easily and quickly and can save you a lot of problems and money. You can buy a BlackBerry trackball replacement repair kit from an online store. To do the Blackberry trackball replacement process, you will need a small pry tool which comes free with the kit.

First you have to switch off the phone and the best way to do this is to open the back case and remove the battery. Next take the pry tool and put it slightly below the ring around the trackball. Try to lift the ring with the help of the pry tool but don't press too hard. You should be able to remove fairly easily. Then put it to one side. If it is not broken when you take it out of the phone, it could be used again or save for a future replacement.

The next thing is to take out the trackball. It is secured in its place by four little magnets. By using the pry tool you could easily just pry the trackball out but it's even easier to turn over the phone, give it a little tap on the back and the trackball will pop out.

Now the gap for the trackball is open you can check to see if there is any dust or dirt and give it a quick clean if there is. Do the cleaning as gently as possible by blowing some air into it.

Now take your new trackball, which has four white notches grouped by two on each side of the trackball. These notches should point to the sides of your blackberry phone when the trackball is inserted in its place. You can insert it easily by hand, by just using the pry tool to push slightly to make sure the blackberry trackball sticks in its place.

After the trackball is in place you have to put back the ring that holds it. You could use your old ring or the new one that came with your new trackball. It is important to notice that the ring has notches on each of its sides except on one. The side with no notches is the one that should point upward (i.e. to the top of your blackberry phone) when you insert the ring. When you place it in the phone, press the ring so it sticks into place. The replacement of your blackberry trackball has been done, and your phone has been repaired.

Mobile Phone Support, or The Lack Thereof

The mobile phone is regarded as a fairly recent innovation, but this isn't really true. The first commercial cellular network was installed by Bell's Labs in Chicago in the early 1970s, and they have been freely available in the UK for over 20 years.

Fast forward to 2009, and the number of mobile phone subscriptions throughout the world has risen to 3.3 billion, the equivalent of half the world's population. Of course, many people will have more than one phone, and some will no longer be working, but you get the picture. In other words, the mobile phone has become the most common device on the planet.

Intended simply as a way of communicating whilst on the move, mobile phones now have many features beyond making calls and sending text messages. These range from simple things like cameras, stopwatches, calorie counters and alarms, to much more complicated functions such as Internet browsing, video editing and streaming live T.V.

The main problem we have nowadays is that the level of education is light years away from where it needs to be in order to keep up with the speed technology is travelling at. Each time a manufacturer launches a new mobile phone, they will boast about its latest feature, another new piece of technology for people to have to learn how to use. Or more accurately, according to recent surveys, another piece of technology that will baffle and confuse people until they get so frustrated they simply give up on trying to figure it out.

In order for all these technological advancements to be worthwhile, the way people are taught how to use mobile phones needs to change. When you buy a phone in a store, you may be dealt with by a very knowledgeable sales person, who could teach you everything your phone can do. However, to do that would mean spending hours with each customer, and just isn't practical. Contained inside the box is an instruction manual that is more often than not poorly written, incomprehensible, and therefore either ignored completely or thrown across the room in frustration.

So the current education system clearly doesn't work; technology has changed, therefore so must the way people are taught how to use it.

This is where The Human Manual comes in. Every new piece of technology will be displayed in a bite sized video, to show consumers exactly how to use it. No more overly complicated manuals, no more calls to the manufacturers, simply 24 hour access to easy to follow videos, showing you what to press, when to press it and how to press it.

The Human Manual is a subsidiary of 519 Consultancy. Our vision is to provide dedicated customer education and support, through our easy to access video tutorials, and an online query system, so you can get the most out of your mobile phone.
